Communities across Hawaiʻi saw homes destroyed, crops decimated, and beloved pets lost forever. In 1970 Frances “Patches” Damon Holt and her sister Harriet “Haku” Damon Baldwin founded The Moanalua Gardens Foundation (MGF) to prevent the building of the H3 freeway in Kamananui (Moanalua) Valley, the last undeveloped valley in urban Honolulu.
